NYC Halloween Parade 2009 Themed: Terra Incognito
The past year has been a year of economic strife and uncertainty. Not knowing what the future holds has given the NYC Villages Halloween Parade a perfect canvas to portray their rightly themed event. The Latin phrase "Terra Incognito" translates simply into "unknown land" and will be portrayed through an immense amount of blue sequence and sea green silks creating the image of an overbearing sea forcing us into unknown waters. With glamorous mermaids and scary sea creatures floating along with the current, this parade is the perfect metaphor for our current economic situation, just why more pleasurable to watch.
The NYC village Halloween Parade has been going strong for what is now its 36th year. The parade begins on 6th Ave from Spring Street to 21st and is open for public participation as long as you are in costume. There will be over 2 million spectators and will be broadcasted on NY 1 from 8 - 9:30 pm
